Some cars aren’t drawn, they look like they’ve been sculpted from a single block of solid granite, resulting in a stunning piece of art. The Aston Martin DB9 is a perfect example. It’s an insanely beautiful coupé where, honestly, how it drives almost doesn’t matter. Just looking at it is enough to enjoy the experience. A design worthy of a museum display. Yet, that wasn’t the intention of Aston Martin and Ian Callum when designing the DB9. It’s a pure driver’s car. A vehicle just as comfortable carving through mountain passes as it is cruising down the Autobahn at nearly 300 kilometers per hour. Don’t be fooled by those elegant lines, the Aston Martin DB9 is a true Grand Tourer, making continent-crossing feel like casual entertainment. The elegance of an Aston Martin is virtually unmatched: a Ferrari may be sportier, but lacks its grace, while a Porsche is more efficient, but misses the charm.
UNIQUE HISTORY
This example has only “delivery miles” on the clock and has therefore never been driven. That makes this a rare opportunity to buy a “new” DB9 Coupé long after Aston Martin ceased production. The car was part of a collection and has always been stored indoors. Unsurprisingly, it’s in immaculate condition—not only because it has never been driven, but also thanks to the sublime specification. The first owner ordered the car with an “Onyx Black” exterior and a “Chancellor Red / Cream Truffle” interior—a breathtaking color combination that continues throughout the cabin. In addition, they selected several bespoke extras including: special order Onyx Black paint, contrasting stitching, contrasting carpets, red steering wheel, black facia trim, matching wood veneer, perforated leather upholstery, polished grille, 19-inch 15-spoke wheels, stone guards for the front wheels, red brake calipers, heated windshield, smoker’s pack, auto-dimming mirrors, front parking sensors, and an alarm system. In short, this Aston Martin lacks absolutely nothing.
TECHNICAL DETAILS
The DB9 Coupé is powered by a 5.9-liter V12 engine. It features 48 valves, produces 450 hp, and is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission from ZF. It accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 5.1 seconds and reaches a top speed of 300 km/h. A car built in 2008 obviously requires serious maintenance if it has essentially never been driven. And that's exactly what we've done. The car has undergone a full recommissioning. We thoroughly inspected it, replaced all fluids, changed the tires, and gently started driving short distances. While the engine may be 14 years old, it still needs to be broken in. Fortunately, it's a true masterpiece, thanks to its nearly 6-liter displacement, there’s always ample torque available, even at low revs, making for a wonderfully smooth drive. For the next owner, breaking in the car shouldn’t take much time. It drives beautifully and is ready to begin a lifetime of unforgettable journeys with its new owner.
The Volante is currently registered in Germany, and the price is based on that. Delivery on Dutch registration can be arranged upon request.
